Welcome to the site from Idaho! Dang, it looks like you already started painting. I was actually diggin' the color and the logos on the doors! I like the trucks that show their history and like the old shop names and such painted on the doors....but that's just me. It looks like a great truck though and it sure means business with that front bumper! By the way, I shot mine with Krylon satin black (the ultra flat seems to turn chalky). Yeah, it's rattle can and it won't last very long but it only cost roughly $60-70 and both of my index fingers! It'll do though until I get serious about a full rebuild some day (not until my '56 is done).

Yes sir....I got the old paint cans out and went to spraying. Was a crap load of sanding to get those painted on letters from the two fire department previous owners and layered on the doors and high fenders. I used Rustoleum Flat Black. Money is the problem. I'll finish the rest the same for the time being. Hopefully in the future will do it right.

Re: Newbie
Update.
Last week I decided to put bed rails on the flatbed. I picked up some composite decking from Lowes. Dang it was expensive. The sides and rear now have tow 1"'x6" rails slightly spaced one above the other. Its just a regular stake job. But painted them the same semi-gloss black as the rest. Of course I haven't finished the paint job yet. I did get the front fenders, the lower valence, and the plastic grill inserts all in the same paint done though. Still lack the cab top and back, and the hood. Did get all the metal tubing, grate, and expanded metal ready to cut up and weld to redo the headache rack.
I'll try to get updated pics posted on the photo gallery.

Re: Newbie
Well we said goodbye to the old 72 today. Gentleman from Katy, TX picked it up today. I sure hope he and his family enjoy it as much as we did. Also many thanks to all of you on the forums. You were invaluable to helping and educating me in these old fords. Maybe one day I'll come across another. The needs of the family trumped my desire for the toy.
