I was told that you are only supposed to get one full turn of the wheel when adjusting the drums. Is this true?
Also I was getting a slight pull to the right when I brake. All the shoes look great and I adjusted the truck to where the left front gets one turn and the right is around two. This helped straighten the truck out under braking but now pulls slightly to the left under speed.
Is it more or less adjust to where it brakes straight or adjust to a certain wheelspin then adjust more from there?
Thanks.

actualy you adjust them just until you can hear/feel them drag "scrape" a little bit and adjust maybe one extra step on the adjusters. Make sure it aint your rears misadjusted.
Also after adjusting drive it in reverse and hit the brakes and then go forward zasnd hit the brakes.
Just thought of it but could it be your syeering was the original pull? And backing the rightside off only allowed the left to run with the truck wherever it wanted?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: Drum adjustment
It was definitely the brakes. I have yet to adjust the rears because I didn't want to wear everything out if I adjusted them to tight.
My plan is this and please red flag me if it is insane...
I am going to adjust all of the drums to a one roll or to where I can hear them scrape just a bit. Then I'll put er in reverse and hit the brakes to set em. Then I'll take her out and see what she does. If she goes straight then I'll buy the first round. If not then I'll see which way she is pulling and adjust accordingly from there to get her to stop straight and off on down the road I go.
If that seems like a nutty plan SOMEBODY STOP ME!
I'm gonna start adjusting them this afternoon when it warms up a bit. It's about 30 degrees right now here.
Have I mentioned yet that my truck and I share this strange relationship? I take care of her the best I can and she just keeps on gettin it... I think she actually smiled when I went through her last weekend and put all new fluids everywhere and made a few adjustments as well as made her shine like new. Man she cranked up and ran as smooth as ever! Damn good truck!

re: Drum adjustment
That's not how you do it!
Drum's are adjusted like this. You tighten the aduster up till the wheel
locks, and won't turn. Then back it off till you can spin it. Easy. If it pulls
after that, it's not the adjustment. Try that first and I'll tell you more if
it don't help.

re: Drum adjustment
She's driving and braking straight as can be. Thank you for the advice. 15 different plumbers will plumb a house 15 different ways. Call me green but so long as she's purrin down the road and braking straight and your taking care of em the best way you can thats all you can do and I'll take a shot to that right now and sit back with my ole lady and watch family guy or the simpsons waitin for football on Sunday.
I gotta give the ole lady some credit though. She's building a 76 camaro... Uhh... A camaro... I still wouldn't trade her fer nothin. Maybe take her car and well...
Ya'll have a great weekend. Hell if any of ya'll are around NM let me know. I'd love to get together with some folks out here.
