1970 Ranger 390

Post by tiffys 1970 ranger 390 »

hello guys.............

I am new and proud owner of a 1970 Ranger F-100 with 390,C-6,9 inch. My husband purchased the truck in August 2012 for 1,000 dollars and has a rebuild 390, good C-6, LWB, 2WD and lots of drilled tiny holes. Last month in Sept, he decided that he didn't want the truck and gave it to me. I grew to bond with the Ranger due to 4 things, 1) 390 lots of power !!!!!!, the truck REALLY moves !!!!!!!!!, 2) roomy regular cab, 3) NO SMOG checks, 4) liked the name "Ranger" as i am western movie fan. My husband and i had a 1988 dodge van and 1983 w150, they both failed smog tests and smog stations have rip us off twice and we couldn't pass after pouring 300 dollars for new smog parts and 2 bottles of seaform. The smog stations and DMV are corrupted and they (DMV) refused to help us but is GLAD to TAKE our money 115 and 130 dollars and still refused to help us (no waiver or repairs and we had 90 days to fix it). The 115 dollars was for to pay to reg. the truck in my name and 130 dollars for the van in his name but refused reg.it until it pass the smog test first and kelp the money after they hassled with us for 2 hours with this DMV woman name "JUDY" as she much rather give us a bad time than to help and she was worried about missing her lunch hour too. We were forced to junk both dodges because tags expired and lost about 2800 dollars for the whole mess. We will NEVER allow this to happen again as we no longer will trust the DMV and smog stations and will never buy any car, truck made after 1975 period as long as we live in stink state of cailforina. We wish that we can get even with the DMV and smog stations and make them loose money or jobs if we only knew how to strike back and ruin their day as they ruined ours. My husband wants a 1967 to 1972 bump with a 300 6 and C-6 so we are still looking for one. This is my first bump and it turned out to be a better made truck than the dodge or chevy as the ford is better constructed and thicker sheet metals for bed, fenders etc. We once had 1969 chevy c-10 that rusted out very easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!we got RID of it, the 2 dodges(1983,1988) had very weak 318's and in junkyard since April and June of this year. I am sorry for the long story guys and i am GLAD to have this 1970 Ranger and is a KEEPER. If you have any questions or commets, ask away and post it here for others to read

Heh, my dad had a '72 Chevy that he bought new, and by '76, it already had rust holes in the door jambs! Needless to say, he traded it in on a '77 F100!

I don't believe you have to remove the water pump on a 390 to change the intake manifold? :hmm:
