Joe, you really have to take off the panel or you'll never get it to slide down to the end of the channel. Here's a photo of the end of the channel on my door (67) and another from the outside with the window down. You can see it is waaaaaay down there. Good luck.

Thanks,Jor....I was afraid somebody was gonna say that....Okay...My door panels are the metal ones with that stainless trim to cover the outer door panel screws....Any ideas on how to get those stainless pieces off w/o breaking the clips?....BTW,Jor,i noticed you have that carpet padding type of stuff inside your doors....I wanted to do that w/ my other truck but was told it would get all wet and mildewy...Is that true?

when i remove my trim on my door. i take the screws out and then i carefully use a screwdriver to pry the clips and all out of the door. some of my clips won't come out of the door but they will pop off of the trim. they are metal clips with a kind of foam rubber type of material holding them all together. they don't break they squeeze together if you have to put them back in the trim. just try to put the screwdriver as close to the clips as you can and wiggle the screw driver around to work them out. it not hard and i've never broken one.

Canola? It's easier if you take the glass out. Them panels come off
pretty easy. Use a thin putty knife to get under them, unless you have
a door panel tool. Then they pop off.
Good Luck, Keith P

Ok,turns out it was Mazola corn oil....Thanks for the tips...I got one side done...With the door panels off,the channel goes on pretty easily,...You can pull it from underneath as you're pushing from the top...The panel went back on w/o any problems...I also put the anti-rattler and the door seal kit in...It also was a good time to SOS pad the door sill plate...That black rubber cement does a marvelous job of sticking to your fingers...Tomorrow,I have to do the other side...Anybody know a clean way to put the door seal kit in?..

Oops, since you have one side done already, Joe, I guess I'm late on this answer. I haven't had any problem wiht mildew. If we lived in a moist area, that might be the case but here in Arizona we're fine.BTW,Jor,i noticed you have that carpet padding type of stuff inside your doors....I wanted to do that w/ my other truck but was told it would get all wet and mildewy...Is that true?

If you go to the hardware store and pickup a can of contact cement
and some small throwaway brushes, you can just paint it on. Then let
it tack and put your seals on.

Also when you do your door seals, I read that you should really get ALL of the old contact cement off, and I dont think it comes off easily.
Joe Kriston where did you buy your anti rattlers and door seals and what did you think of the quality?

Last year's Dennis Carpenter catalogue had a great tutorial in the back on replacing anti rattle kits and window seals.
