First Restoration Project
Hi everyone,
I came across this site and found that it has great information and is exactly what I was looking for to help me on my first restoration project. My grandpa passed away in May. He had a 1972 Ford F100 that he drove from 1972-2002, so lets just say it has some wear (Cab is pretty much beyond repair, needs new inner fenders and radiator support, etc). The truck has over 300,000 miles. If the truck wasn't my grandpa's, it wouldn't be worth restoring, but I think it will be cool to fix up and drive his truck that he drove for so long. It is also the same truck that my dad learned to drive in. I recently found a 1970 Ford at the local scrap yard which I am going to use for parts. I don't know very much about restoring vehicles, but hope I can learn a lot with this project. Here is a picture of the truck before I started taking it apart. Currently, I have everything off down to the frame.

from Georgia! Can't wait to hear/see more of your project. I'm a first timer too and in the "middle" of my project. It's not the destination that's the most satisfying, it's the journey.

Re: First Restoration Project
Welcome. I once had my grandpas truck that he bought new, a 73' Chevy C/10 Custom Deluxe. I drove it for many years until in a moment of utter stupidity I sold it. It ended up in the hands of a local boy who promptly rammed it into the gas pumps at 7-11 doing burnouts in the parking lot, totaling it. Later I visited it in the junkyard, remembering all the times I rode in it as a child with grandpa and the many years I owned it myself.
Glad you are doing right by yours.

Re: First Restoration Project
bb72ford, it dont cost much to "restore" these trucks. and when you get them in shape and running good, theyre very econonmical - because you can work on them/fix them yourself! You'll get alot of enjoyment out of it too, which will be a good testament to your relatives.

Re: First Restoration Project
Yeah that is part of the reason why I chose this as my first project. Parts are pretty cheap and available and the truck is pretty basic.
