Just rolled into town!!

Post by vwfreak »

Hello. My name is "Jim", and I'm a junkie; a Ford Truck Junkie. My first Ford truck was a 1978 LWB I purchased in 1996. I was hooked on it for 10 years replacing parts such as the steering gear, motor (I put in a rebuilt 351W), rear end chunk (the trac-loc had been broken for years), all the brake components, wheels and countless other bits and pieces including a lovely OD green paint job. It finally took a move of over 1000 miles to break free of the pull of that truck. I just needed it. Daily. Even lack of A/C in Houston and the fact that 2nd gear in that RUG was worn and would pop out of gear when I let off the gas didn't curtail my desire to drive and enjoy it every day. I was in so deep I started "pushing", encouraging a coworker to by a dent side of his own. I've since lost track of him. I hope he is well.

I knew I was in trouble so I sought a professional. A highly regarded counselor was unable to help. This counselor suggested a support group which I never sought out.... My lack of motivation in dealing with my "problem" is probably why I am in the same position again now, six years later. In June I bought a 1967 Camper Special even after discussing it with my wife and getting her hearty approval. She was no help at all. Some partner.... Now that I am here at Fordification and have done a bit of reading through the threads I feel that you all are not likely to help either. Rather it seems you all will act as enablers further enhancing my knowledge and enjoyment of my new truck and allowing my "habit" to progress. Regardless I will stay. It seems futile to resist, and besides, I've taken the truck apart and need your help to put it together anyway if I am to be able to move it from my garage.

Wish me well Fordification members. Wish me well....

Hello Jim. Welcome to our Sunday night meeting of 67 to 72 anonymous. You have come to the right place to work on your obsessive behavior of owning a Ford truck. If you need a sponsor to help you threw your program, you are at the best place for someone to help you recover. Although you may never recover from addiction of these old trucks, you can have as many sponsors as you see fit to help you get threw the 1245 steps of doing the footwork it takes to see the light of day.You have already done the first step, admitting that you are a ford junkie. When ever you feel like you have nowhere to turn and lost on your journey of recovery, feel free to pick up the mouse and give us a call. Some times ,recovery can take months or years so be ready for all the downfalls and heartbreaks along the way. Good luck with your obsessive behavior and RIDE ON!! :D
PS: Your presence here at Fordification will be anoymous to outsiders

Hi again Jim!
Let me help you with your problem. Drop your truck off and I will take care of it for you. If after 10-20 years you show signs of getting better I will give it back to you.
PS. Trust me. Just trying to help. :)

Welcome aboard!
One thing about the '67s: several people who have purchased them have been given a new name shortly there after: Daddy.
You've been warned! :D

Welcome fellow junkie!! After having read and re-read your intro, I feel you have come to the right place. I learned how to drive in a '56 Ford 1/2 ton(Blue) and it has been a lost cause since. Oh, I've tried others, but it wouldnt' do. I'm sorry, but it seems you too, are incurable. Just live with it and hold your head up high.Welcome

yeah, I heard.... After my purchase!!

This truck seems in really good shape though. All the "1967 only" parts work fine. It was a farm truck and little used but it went without some non essential maintenance. Stuff I guess the farmer didn't feel necessary. Oh it got its oil and lube. Front end is tight and body is straight and almost rust free (Cali vehicle). Sole rust spot is right fender behind wheel and I received a perfect replacement from another '67 from the fellow that had it between me and the farmer (original purchaser). Right now I have the column apart for bearings, TSS cancel cam and a rag joint. I need to r/r front and rear seals and some transmission seals I'm told.... So far that's all I have planned.

Some of you all may have seen her on FTE, but for those that haven't here she is:
