69 F100 Ranger, first-timer rebuild
Hi,
My name is Milhouse and I just bought a 1969 F100 Ranger off Craigslist to do a partial restore. I've never taken on a project this big before just done car maintenance basics; fluids, batteries, tires, air filters etc...
My goal in all this is a reliable work truck for the occasional haul/move/dump run and 3rd vehicle for the family that could turn a head or two when we pile in for a cruise around town on Friday night. This site looks like it could be an invaluable resource to spin me up on what I need and how to fix the issues this rig came with.
I'm an easy going and inquisitive; appreciative to all the help anyone is willing to afford me. I'm giving myself a year to fix known issues and do some cosmetics before going into Maaco and calling it more or less done. I know its a classic and a never ending battle but this will do less than 3k miles a year so I'm hoping for low overhead to maintain.
Please let me know any info ya'll can use to help me in my endeavor, i'm trying to figure out the engine casting #'s to get an idea what I have on my hands. All I know for now is its a 360 2 barrel carb engine; It has Power Steering and Power Breaks, Automatic, 2WD. Runs fairly well, a little cold to start.
Thanks,
Milhouse

from northern California! Looks like the F100 I had in 1975, didn't originally come from Cali did it?

Re: 69 F100 Ranger, first-timer rebuild
Thanks Everyone,
Indeed she did come from Cali Kurt Combs, built in San Jose according to her VIN #
I've been digging in the past 2 weeks, finding out what needs to be fixed or rebuilt. Its actually a fairly short list as the truck was in great shape and an absolute steel for what I paid.
As stated this is my first rebuild so although I have posted much I've been using Fordification search engine a lot to get info.
Would a rebuild thread be the best route to solicit advice? or just multiple posting in correlating forums?
Thanks again for the welcome,
Milhouse

Better to post in the related forum to get the best response. Believe or not, some people don't follow Project threads Go figure.
