C6 speedometer drive gear needed

Well I got the end piece off. I found no evidence of a drive gear. But I did find that the yoke was a bit scratched and gouged up. The drive gear slide over the yoke and make contact with the driver gear correct?

Should be a metal drive gear sandwiched between two of those spacer rings...

Nothing is there. Nothing to be seen. Looks like I'll have to find one.

I'm not sure how many teeth yours should have. See if you can determine how many teeth were on the chewed up gear and then refer to this chart...> http://www.fordification.com/partnos/sp ... 4spd01.htm depending on your tire size and rear end gear ratio.

Thanks for the info Bobby. Looks like I'll need a 7 tooth drive gear if I'm going to try it. The gears being plastic on metal shouldn't hurt should it? And how exactly does it stay in place?

The drive gear goes in between the two rings on the shaft and the yoke and nut hold it all together.

Looks like they left the drive gear out and the yoke got against the driven gear. Hopefully, the extra end play the output shaft would have had didn't mess up any internals.

The P/N for the driven gear for a 69 is C5TZ 17285-C (8 teeth) for about all rear axle ratios and tire sizes. Green Sales has one: http://www.greensalescompany.com/ Let me know your ratio and I'll verify that this is the correct one.

Can't really tell which driven gear you have, but it looks like either 18, 19 or 20.

18: 01T 17281-A
19: 01T 17281-B
20: 01T 17281-C

Couldn't locate any of these under those numbers, but the numbers may have been superceded.
