New Member. Saved a 67'Ish

Post by LDForget »

Hey guys. Ive always wanted an old ford pickup and the other day i got a chance i could never say no to. My friends dad was bringing his 67' ford pickup in for SCRAP METAL! Dana 60 diffs front and rear. Hood says f250, vin plate in the door doesnt seam to make any sence, and the vin plate on the cab says its a f100. So im not sure what i actually have, lol. Its got a 351 modified with a 4 speed manual transmission and a divoced dana 21 transfer case. Enough with this, heres some pics. I know its not in the best shape, but im gonna do a bit of a restoration to it and try to bring it back.

The chevy box isnt going to be staying on the truck. It had a flat bed and the chevy box is sitting on it for now. Ill likely install it until i can find a good deal on the box.

Thanks guys. Heres a question though, why do you call them bumps?

if you look at your door - see the raised profile body line half way down - it's a 'bump'

the later ones go in at the same point - hence 'Dents'
thanks

Nice save! Looks like you have your work cut out for you though. That bump is a little toasty, but every bump is worth saving. :)

I would guess that those doors are not stock to that truck, so more than likely, the vin tag on the door went to another truck. That hood (or at least the hood markers) are not original to that truck either. If that truck is a 67, those hood markers are 68-72 and those FORD letters are 70-72. The holes for the FORD letters are in different locations than the 67-69 letters, so that is probably a 70-72 hood. So it very well could be an F100. I would probably assume that the cab is original to the truck, so if that 2nd VIN tag is on the cab, that is probably the actual VIN for your truck.

I dont even have a clue what the bed is from... Is that a Chevy bed??

You definately have a "Frankenbump" there. If you go to the tech section of this website, there is a TON of info to help you decode the different VIN's and tags to help you figure out what you are dealing with.

The frame is obviously a highboy frame because of the eight lugs and divorced transfercase. On the top of the right frame rail somewhere behind the axle there should be a vin# stamped into the medal, that will be your trucks true idenity since the rest of it is such a mutt.

Nice save! Yeah, frankenbump for sure. What does the dashboard look like? If you have push pull knobs for heater controls and the like, its a 67.

Ill take a look, good call. I think i read that somewhere on here as well in the tech library.

I was having the same ideas about the truck, that the cab is original and the doors/hood are not, but then i was thinking, is there an option for dana 60's front and rear on the f100? maybe its a f250 frame/doors/hood/diff/ect and f100 cab was swapped on? And yeah, its a chevy bed, haha. My boss has a old ford sitting in the yard that has a flare side bed that im probably gonna snag for cheap. Its a early/mid 80's.

If you need 67 interior pics, lemme know. Other than the radio and missing dash pad mine is all complete and correct. Or if you need any other 67 pics.

Looks like she's been "modified" by the PO(s). I don't believe a sun roof was an option in '67 :D Looks like she's also got a '71 steering wheel and a "custom" fan switch knob  You've got your work cut out for you, my friend. A couple of years ago I might have said that cab was toast but after seeing some of the member projects here I believe she can be saved. You might want to check out Tyler's thread http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 22&t=54852 for some encouragement and inspiration.
