How you guys doing. Living up in the Great NW. I own a 1970 Ford F250 Custom with either a FE 360 Or 390. The owner said it was a 360 but from the VIN# it says it's a 360.

Your engine is most likely a 360. Many 360 engines become 390's when the truck is sold. No way to tell from the outside, but you can search on here for how to measure the stroke of your engine through a spark plug hole for the real answer to that question. I amazed a worker in a wrecking yard a few years back when I showed him the 390 he was trying to sell me was actually a 360.

Here is how I would look at the engine being a lowly 360, you have the opportunity for more power when you upgrade to a 390! You already know how much power it makes and you are happy with it, or you wouldn't have bought the truck. Right? So now you can dream about that new engine and the increase in hp and torque until you get around to upgrading!

We can just call the smaller FE's "390 Ready" or "390 Upgradeable"... of course, those upgrades will cost more than a lot of us pay for the trucks to begin with.

The truck is pretty straight. I'll have to post pics of it so you guys can get a good look at her. There is some rust but nothing that can't be fixed

I'm on the west side of the Cascades. Yeah looks like i will be upgrading the motor . Thinking about going with a aftermarket intake and possibly some aftermarket heads. Trying to save a little weight.

Welcome aboard, I'm down in Kent, seems like quite a few of us are from WA.

In regards to engine stuff check this outhttp://www.survivalmotorsports.com/FE-Engine-Kits.html the 'prison break' link at the top talks about a $6k complete FE build w\ 500hp\500ft lbs. At a minimum it should give you some ideas. In regards to "engine" upgrades I think I'd look at the ignition system first, either a points replacement or a full dizzy swap.
