Oddball question about suspension
Local guy claims to have a 1970 (bumpside ford) with some sort of twin ibeam (or twin traction beam) 4x4 front suspension. Claims it oddball and what not. Also says it in af350, with some sort of 400 in it. Never heard of anything like it at all, cant find any literature. Not even in my 1970 ford truck shop manual. If you guys cant point something out to me, i will have him measure his frame width. Sounds like a bumpside on a mid 80s body to me....

Re: Oddball question about suspension
I think you are right about the frame swap. Find a part number or two and figure out the year.

Re: Oddball question about suspension
Back then if you wanted a F350 4x4, when you bought your truck, it went off to a company that converted it to four wheel drive. I don't recall much of the details about the company, but it does have a great big straight axle in it, that looks very industrial so to speak with a big round pumpkin cover, possibly a Rockwell, but am not 100% sure on the make. I've only seen one in my life, as they are quite rare finds these days especially. I'd say your dealing with a Franken-Ford, by the sound of it.

Re: Oddball question about suspension
NAAPCO was one and Pathfinder was another one-think I'm missing a third.
Twin I-beam 4 X 4 would be an 80's cab swap for sure. I was never a fan of them, (after i put a 4" suspension lift on a buddy's twin beam 4 X 4).
Our bumps are so...much easier to lift.
