Rear spring differences

Post by FORDification »

I was at the shop today taking pictures of various things, and snapped these. These are comparison shots of the rear springs, both from '67, but one sets a 1/2-ton and the second's a 3/4-ton Camper Special. Note the difference in arch between the two. The 1/2-ton springs have a lot more arch and thus more travel for a softer ride.

Then I took this comparison shot. Note that the 3/4-ton springs are also much thicker.

Just thought I'd share this with some of our newer members who are just getting into these trucks, just for general knowledge. :D

Well I'll be... My 67's rear springs look like the top spring, but has the same amount of leaves as the bottom. Somebody got creative in it's past seems to me.
