1971 F250
Whats up everyone. Names Andrew friends call me drew or just Sanchez(Military you have no first name )im from good ole Austin,Texas live in Elgin now. Me and my step dad just purchased a 71 and 72 F250 each for $950. He got the 72(body is trashed) with a 390 in it and plans on swapping the motor to his 76 f250 he has. I got the 71custom with 360 in it. Besides a couple dings on the body, the major one on the driverside door and some small dents on the body lines and original paint being scratched and roughed up, its a good looking truck. It does have an exhaust manifold leak but that should be an easy fix, especially since the 76 my dad has, has a 360 in it as well . And also the guy mentioned at stops it idles rough and will cut out and that may be due to something about a vacuum or something like that??? Anyway here are some pics.

Re: 1971 F250
So I been working on my truck during the weekends. I had bolts (3) break off into the exhaust manifold. Got those drilled out and took off a manifold of a donor 360 we have over here. Got the everything back together and it took care of the leake from the old cracked manifold. Rebuilt the Carb and is all nice and clean. Threw it back on and the 360 sounded great. It actually stays on now. The issue I have now it with the fast cam I'm not sure how to set it. The screw was not touching anything like it looks like it should. There's a vacuum on the left side of the carb backside something about a tube that runs from the manifold to the carb? Also the truck will turn on but it idles low like it wants to turn off then bam revs high. Once I rev it one good time I guess the choke opens and revs back down an cuts off. So any help would be great.

Re: 1971 F250
I would check for vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner at any possible leak spots. Also make sure that the pcv system is hooked up properly. You might want to check the pcv valve - I've seen that cause low/poor idle problems. Maybe the pcv port is the vacuum that you see on the rear of the carb? (not sure on that) The fast idle should be set when the truck is cold and the choke is on. I would turn the adj. screw in until the idle is a little higher than normal, maybe 1500 rpm. Good luck! You may want to post this problem in a different catagory - more people may help out there.
