New here with a 72 F250 4x4

Post by oldmopars »

Hello, I have been asking a few questions as I have been looking for a new truck. Well I found the one I want and brought it home last night.
Its a 1972 F250 4x4 360ci, with a 4 speed and Dana 24.
This truck has a name, its Fred. The original owner bought the truck from Silver Falls Ford in Silverton Or. I have the original sales order. The mans name was Fred. He took the F-O-R-D letter off the hood and switched them around to read F-R-E-D. It came with headers and a new dash cover and a few other parts. I am the third owner.
I had to trailer it home because it has not run in a few years. I did get it running last night so I can pull it off the trailer and put it in the garage.
I plan to keep it as stock as possible and keep the 72 vintage look, wheels and tires included.
I have a few questions:
Would this have had the small hub caps or nothing?
What makes a high-boy and is this one or not?

A highboy is an aftermarket term for the F-250 with a divorced transfer case. Your truck is a highboy. There is no special factory suspension, lift, or anything else that makes it a highboy despite some of the myths that exist. Nice truck.

"FRED" That's funny...
Makes me wish I had a four letter name. Wait... sometimes I am called a ... "fred-head." But not fred... I don't think I want to name my truck Dick or Pluck though.
