Newbie in Florida
Hey all,
Just recently got a 68 Ranger SWB with a 472/C6 and 3.55 gears in the 9". It has drop beams with disc brakes and flip kit in the back. I posted pics in an album titled Big Red - 68 Ranger. It's mostly completed but there are things I want to change (as always). It does have AC, PS and PB already so the hard stuff is done. But looking around on here has the ideas multiplying daily.
Had an incomplete street rod I traded for the truck and the deciding factor was a little nostalgia - my Dad had a Rangoon Red 67 SWB when I was a kid and I learned to drive in it. Of course it was a 300 6 with 3 on the tree, nothing like this truck but it felt extremely familiar on the test drive looking out over that big red hood.
I've been lurking around the site since last week and must say the information and atmosphere is awesome! I've been into cars/trucks all my life, well I have to admit I love basically anything mechanical. Have joined multiple Forums over the years with different vehicles, but never found one so inviting or informative and had never posted till now.
My truck is still in Alabama as we just moved and I can't wait to go back and pick it up around Christmas time.
I hope I can contribute some knowledge in the future but it looks like we have all we need here already!
Thanks,
Michael, Palm Coast, Florida

Michael from choo-choo land.
Nice ride man, awesome score.
I'm a former 26 year Florida resident / my Son still lives down in Naples / we've got many members in the Sunshine State.
I'm still waiting for someone in Florida to take this off my hands before my dinosaur of a puter crashes!

Re: Newbie in Florida
Thanks basketcase, I actually used to live about 45 minutes SW of Chattanooga in NE Alabama. The truck is still sitting in my shop there and I'm definitely excited about getting it down here at Christmas.

Welcome from the Panhandle to the great state of Florida. Very nice looking Bump. You had me thinking someone put a Caddy in it with the 472 in the description.

Yeah trukcrazy, I thought the same thing when I was looking to pick it up, but it's just a worked over 460. I only was able to drive it a couple of miles before I had to leave for Florida again, but it was pretty awesome to drive.

Welcome from Louisiana. I am a native of the Plant City area...joined the Army, made it a career and retired here in Louisiana.
