'nuther one from Texas

Post by 49FordF1 »

My dad past away a few months back and my mom gave me his '72 Ranger Xlt. It had set up for about 15 years as a future project.
He had pulled the 390/C-6 and stored them in the bed for when he was ready to do the rebuilds, which he never got around to.
When I went to trailor it to my house I found it to be in sad shape cosmeticly but everything was still solid with no rust. Body was in good shape. Sitting out in the sun for these many years the paint job was shot and the grill needs some straightening but fixable. It has a built in tool box on the passenger side of the bed. At the bottom between the wheel well and the cab.
One thing that really got my goat when I went to pick it up was that some scumbag stole the 390/C-6 from the bed after my dads funeral.
I have an 5.0/AOD setup I can put in it for now and I am looking forward to learning from this forum how to bring it back to how it was when it was still in it's full glory.

49FordF1,

I too would like to first offer my condolences on your loss. And yes the scumbag that got the engine will one day I'm sure get what's due them, (karma if you will). Here's my build thread you might want to check out as I did the same engine swap and documented it very well in hopes it might help someone else someday:

Follow the photobucket link to the pictures that might also help.
And hey...
:nopix:
Especially of the 49' please for us diehard Ford junkies!
