1969 Ford F100 (Germany)

Post by cooper_illinois »

Hi,

my name is Bjoern and I am (soon) the proud owner of a 69 Ford F100. Truck is currently getting shipped and will (hopefully) arrive end of October here in Germany. As for the registration, I would need some reliable evidence for:
- maximum speed (truck has a 390 with automatic transmission and 3.25 gears)
- the sound (noise) level of the truck preffereably in db
- the size (diameter) of the front lights
I am looking for car magazines, articles, reviews, commercial ads by Ford etc. Any help is appreaciated.

Bjoern

Welcome. Headlights are 7" diameter. The rest you'll probably have to figure out yourself. :D

Good day Bjoern,

I know that you're no doubt looking for authoritative information on the truck's top speed and noise levels, yet I'm not sure if Ford even published those specifications since as you know, they're not much of a concern in the USA (especially for a truck).

My guess on top speed, depending on the truck's mechanical condition, would be around 177 KPH (110 MPH), but the truck probably wouldn't be safe or comfortable at that speed at all. It would no doubt feel and sound like it was going to disintegrate violently at any second. The maximum comfortable speed, if the truck's in great mechanical condition, is probably around 112 KPH (70 MPH).

Maybe Florian has helped with his awesome German reply! I love it; that's the first complete German post I've seen here on FORDification. :)

Thank you for the welcome and the advice given. Big thank you also to Florian for supporting me with his documentation. Here is the truck (still in the US):

small joke (sad but true): while talking to the guy at registration, he said that they need to know max speed for the right tire index.
In order to make me use the onces that work untill 190km/h or above
