1972 F100 POWER STEERING QUEST!

Post by bailing_wire »

I have a 1972 f100 4x4 , manual steering. I want power steering for my truck. I have read the tech articles and don't know if the info is applicable to the f100. Also, since the steering box is out of a 78-9 Bronco, is it the worm gear that is changed (reverse ratio worm gear) I doubt they machine one just for this application (but i Could be wrong) So if anybody has done this and can guide me I'd sure appreciate it, Mike

Mike,
I am looking for parts and pieces to do my 72 f-100 also. I have not yet got all the pieces but it looks like it should work great, the bronco uses the same set up as the early f-100 4X4. Let me know how it works out if you do yours first. If I do mine first I will post the info here.

Check out BC Broncos, try this link http://bcbroncos.com/info.html they talk about the worm rack swap for the '79 PS box for power steering an EB. The F100 and Early Bronco should have the same front end. Hope it helps. I want to do this swap myself, I have the same problem, but first I need to get a speedo cable for the 205 xcase I put in.
