Houston Newbie

Post by SANDHOG »

Great site, been lurking for a bit. Finally pulled the trigger and purchased a bump. My first Ford and first project. 1968 F250 CS, 390, c6, auto, ps, pb, 3.54, 71K miles. The good - almost all original, interior looks great, need to redo the bench seat. The bad - everything underneath the hood is original too. Pretty sure the brakes are original and there's not much left to them. Needs new radiator, hoses, brake booster, most likely MC too, king pins, radial arm bushings, PS box, and I am just now digging into it. Electrical is a mess, I think the PO was powering his neighborhood from the extra battery terminal. Unfortunately I don't have much experience so I am requesting guidance, advice, & referrals from the Houston guys. I would like to do a bit of the work myself but much may beyond my means and I know I will have to take it to a shop at some point. Aaah, let the fun begin.

Is the color lime metallic green ? Door code state I90 for color but I can't cross reference this. Truck was a custom order.

I do have the original front bumper, west coast mirrors and original wheels, hubs and spare. All will be re-installed in due time of course.

Thanks for your guidance....and more questions to come

Thanks for the welcome. Ordered the radiator and upper and lower hoses yesterday, and so now it begins. Looking forward to all the fun & hopefully limited frustration but I am sure there will be plenty of that as well.

Mancar - prior to joining I did read many of your posts in order to gain some insight into my upcoming purchase. Thank you for the information.

Thanks again everyone
