You're just talking about the box, right? Well, in addition to the obvious fact of the difference in body lines, the '73-up bed is several inches longer, due to an increase in wheelbase length. This means that when you set the box up against the cab where it's supposed to be, the rear wheels won't be centered in the wheelwells. Also, the 2WD trucks had a 4"-wider frame from the cab rearward, so you'll have to drill new holes in the box to mount them to our narrower frame. These holes would have to be reinforced like the factory holes, so the hold-down bolts don't pull through or distort the bed floor.
