some lowering questions
considering the ford is down for ahwile, im starting to get hungry to drop it the RIGHT way...
In back: Maybe c-section, new leaf springs, and flip the front leaf spring mount. OR leaf spring flip kit, and blocks?
Up front: any ideas??
-i torched the coils up front for a temp drop job, but it still isn't as low as id like. anyone got a inexpesive way??
OH, and has any one had any experience shortening the driveshaft, specifically two piece driveshafts??
Thanks

It can be done but I beams are a pain to work with.
You can't just change or heat the spring to lower or it cause it changes your camber. These old truck that I know of don't have any adjustment for camber like a truck with uper & lower control arms do or 90's Fords with I beams.
The way I would do this is to Z the frame, the only thing you would have to do is modify the steering
shaft from the colum and move the brake line up a few inches.
Another way is to buy some lowerd I beams from DJM and if it's not low enough just bag it or Z the frame to get the drop you want.
You can also go with the mustang 2 front like I did.
Hope this helps. Check out my truck I have a few pics of the suspension.

Greasemonkey.
I changed my leaf spring mounts to under the axle. Lowered it a bunch. The frame now needs a C notch which I will be doing soon. I bought Moroso spring perches from my local speed shop. When i replace my bed I will add the notch and box the frame with a new upper shock mount. Good luck on your I beams.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Ok I've got a few questions as well.. i feel bad starting a new topic on this sort of subject, so im using this post. i feel like everyone knows whats up except me.
I'm for sure going to get drop beams in the front. Probably the 4 inch. Maybe the 2. now what springs and shocks do i need? then for the rear to sit level what should i do? will drop shakles do the job? or do i need a c notch?
also for anyone with questions about this i've been saving this post i've read it quite a few times... very helpful on this topic..

It doesn't look like a very precision way of doing things. Did the trucks drive ok after being z'd ? It would seem like a chassis jig or something should be used..........
