Transmission Identification Help needed !!!

Post by WAYNO31 »

I'm bangin my head here!!! I'm having trouble identifying exactly what kind of transmission I have....The I.D. tag reads as such...C5D3-7986-B...I do believe it's C5 tranny..Other than that, I have no idea what year it is or where it might have come from..I know it's not original to the vehicle..Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....Yes, it's blown up, hence I need to know what to order to rebuild/replace it with....Thanx :o

Welcome to the site. Be sure to introduce yourself in the welcome mat.

The C5D3 in the first group indicates 1965, Drivetrain. The C5 transmission didn't come around untill the 80's.

Have a look at this & see if you can figure out what you have
