New here, OLD Ford guy.

Post by 72Stepside4X4 »

I would just like to say hello to all of you out there. I am new here but not to the Ford world. I started out life as a Chebby guy and soon found that they are just too common and most of the people are A$$es, a select few are not but for the most part mainly Gaymaro owners. I have found the Ford community is a little milder and a bit more open minded about things. Kinda as long as it is done tastefully and well we don't have much of a problem with it.
As my title says I own a 1972 F100 Step side 4X4. I came back from Germany in 1992 and started looking for one, I found it in Eugene, Oregon. I bought the truck and took it with me to FT. Riley Kansas and she has been with me ever since. I had a few problems with it that I could not afford to fix at the time but now that has changed and am ready to fix her up and put her back on the road. She is a 300 I6 truck with a 4 speed trans and is a beast in the mud. I have done the power steering upgrade and have plans to upgrade the brakes and suspension on this rebuild. I have acquired a front disk brake axel from a 1975 F100 for her with the matching rear end for the upgrade. I will be needing some parts for her so expect to see me in the wanted section. I do have some nice parts for some other years also so I may even sell some here.
Thank you for having me on the site and look forward to getting and maybe giving some help to others here.

Welcome and good luck with your truck. I like your comment bout chevies being too common. That they are. Thats why I like an ol Ford. Take my "fix or repair daily" as the chevy guys call it over a chevy. Lots of nice ol bowties but thats why these bumpsides are my favorite. Theres only a few nice ol bumps around me and i plan to raise the count by 1!!

Well as a matter of fact I would like to have all 3 of my old Chebbies back. The first car I ever bought by myself was a 1964 Impala SS, 300hp 327, 12 bolt posi, and a 3 spd on the column (I know weird huh), The second was a 67 Nova SS, 327 4spd car and the one I kick myself for selling every day was my 70 Chevelle SS, 396 (402) 4 spd. Man I loved that car but deployed to Germany in 1981 and had to get rid of it.
Now I spend all my time with my Mavericks, my F100 and my wife's 2 67 T-Birds, 1 2 door and 1 4 door.
Good to be here
