New member and Ford owner

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the website and a first time Ford owner. I just bought a '68 F100 Truck from a friends brother for $500. It runs and pretty much looks like a $500 truck. But i took it up to Mt. Hood here in Oregon and it made it there and back for the holiday weekend. I did do a tune up on it before I left.

The only trouble I've had it it started to putter like it was running out of gas, but the choke was out some. Even with the choke in it did it a little. I'm thinking a new fuel filter would help that. It was sitting out on a farm for a few years so can anyone give me some pointers on this question. The guy I bought it from said to leave the choke out for awhile until its warm then push it back in.

The truck only has 112K miles on it. I see some minor things I need to change like the V-Belt and a couple of hoses.

I look forward to some discussions on this site with everyone. I'm not a experienced mechanic but I can do some work on engines. So I hope to get all the right answers and info here on Fordification.

After sitting you could never go wrong with new fuel filter, I'd also through a bottle
of ISO into the fuel tank

Were plug wires part of the tune up ? think of the manual choke like a lawn mower it
should not stay out that long before it starts fowling, sometimes they get pulled to
hard and might need to be adjusted.

MrMajestyk, it does have new plug wires. I did notice that a couple of them were not on real snug and i think that might have fixed the puttering some . But today I will put a new fuel filter in. Ive never owned a truck with a choke before so Im not used to it and forget about closing it as Im driving.
