New guy from Pittsburgh, PA with a '67 F100

Post by cadtorque »

Hey there. Here's my new old truck. It's a '67 F100 with a 352, 3 speed. It runs and drives, but the shifter linkage is mangled, it's leaking oil from the intake, the clutch doesn't hold very well, and all the hydraulic parts in the brake system are leaky. So I towed it home, bought all new wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, brake hoses, intake and valve cover gaskets, t-stat, hoses, Hurst Indy shifter, new clutch, and some Wheel Vintiques gennies with some meaty tires. The work begins tomorrow!

Are you aware of the " '67 Curse"? It seems that those who acquire '67s soon get a new name: daddy.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! About the tow rig: It's not mine. It belongs to a local trucking company that I do fleet service for. It's an '87 Pete that used to be a long-hauler, but had a recent makeover consisting of sleeper removal, bodywork, and a 20K trip to the chevron store. It's awesome because there is literally nothing like it on the road.

I'm unaware of the '67 curse. do enlighten! I hope it doesn't involve me having kids, b/c I have a house and four classics in various stages of the game. It pretty much feels like i have 3 full time jobs.

update: I have the brakes rebuilt. shoes and hardware are all good, replaced all wheel cylinders, brake hoses, master cylinder, front grease seals, and wheel bearing repack. I replaced the wagon wheels and dry rotted tires with something a little less hillbilly. Also, today i dug into the motor. intake and valve covers removed to replace with a cast iron 4bbl manifold and holley 600, valve seals, and i will be adding flowtech long tubes and getting the exhaust done. Here is the updated pic:
