Southern Alberta Mercury newbie

Post by Chwderhed »

Hi everyone. My truck is a '67 Mercury M100 2wd with a 300 engine and a 3-on-the-tree. This has been in my family since new when my grandpa drove it as a farm truck, then my dad used it with a slip tank of diesel in the back for filling tractors and stuff, then finally became my daily driver through part of highschool. Now that I'm a bit older I was in need of a project & thought I had better freshen up this beauty. As far as I can tell everything is original on this.

This thread is worthless without pics so here you go.

The first pic is the tag on the door, might be hard to read, says: F10BCA91857
The second pic is on the driver side cowl, when you pop the hood up, says: F10BBA91857

Any ideas why they might be different?

Welcome aboard! Nice truck
Another Merc serial # to add to my list :D
I've saved tags from crusher bound trucks that have had that same mistake/difference. Nothing significant, just a misstamping that happens occasionally.
Have you got any of the original paperwork on it? Interesting that the DSO shows a Ford dealer ordered it. They were mainly sold by the Lincoln/Mercury dealers (DSOs A1-A7) but in some towns too small for both dealers it looks like Ford dealers could also special order them. There's a few around; I've got a '68 Merc ordered by the Ford dealer in Strathmore and I've seen others. If you haven't seen it, check out the Merc ID thread link below this post...

Good day ChwderHed,

That's an excellent and unusual (at least in the US) Mercury! I think that's one of the best colors, and it looks like it's in really nice shape.
