Master cylinder

Post by whiteblur »

I switch my 67 front end to disc brakes and remembered to remove to residual valve for the front brakes out of the 67 MC. I screwed a wood screw into the brass fitting in the Mc and tried pulling but it wouldn't come out  then the screw ended up breaking off and then i had to drill it out. Once i drilled it out, the brass fitting was destroyed and came right out but there was not a spring and valve behind the brass fitting :? Now i am totally lost and my brass fitting is destroyed :x What the heck do i do?

for disc brakes you need a dual reservoir master. with two different sized reservoirs. they residual valves will be behind the brake line fitting in side the threaded hole. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... Bendix.jpg

if you have a 74 master with booster. you dont have to do anything. just bolt it to the booster. if you hvae a manual master of any kind you have to use the 67 brake pedal rod. if you are trying to use the 74 master as a manual master. then the rod hole in the back of the master may be too deep. compare it to the 67 hole.

i'm sorry. my mnd has been elsewhere the past few weeks.

the only correct lenght push rod for manual or power will have to be a 67 only . the booster will have to be a 67 only if you use a booster. th push rod for a 67 manual brakes will have to be 67 only.

if you want to use any other year. booster or manual brake master you can either redrill your 67 brake pedal and make a 68-72 brake light switch bracket. then you can use 68-77 brake boosters or manual brake masters. once you have a booster on your truck the year of the master doesnt matter really. as long a it is a master that has a larger resevoir in back and a smaller one in the back. those are disc brake compatible. but if bought for 68-72 the residual valve will have to be removed. unless you tell the parts store that you have a68 F250 with disc brakes. then the master will not have the residual valve and be ready to install.

i do have one more idea. if you want to install a 68 and up nrake pedal bracket. i have one. i would tade you straight acros for your 67 pedal and bracket. as long as the bushings are good. i have pictures in the parts for sale section of the brackets i have. i think i have two sets maybe three sets. i cant remember. they are all good and for automatic transmissions.
