I prefer a nice tall glass of Valvoline on ice with a side shot of 90w.

Thanks Randy!!

Unfortunately (or FORTUNATELY) Greg's Bump has a Saginaw / Ford power steering gear in it so your link is not applicable... But Again THANKS!!

I'm still going to research this repair for Greg but my ex wife's 1999 F350 7.3 PSD needs the glow plugs replaced in it so guess who gets tapped for the job?

She's bringing it over to me tonight and I damn well better have it fixed A.S.A.P. or else... (her words!) So when I'm done with her truck, I'll spend some time researching Greg's issue.

Oh well... at least she's a Ford kinda Gal. BTW guys she's single and I'd REALLY appreciate it if one of you would take her out. Maybe than she'll leave me alone!

Ooops, didn't dig deep enough. Like to see what you come up with on that cause I have a feeling I may be needing it too. BTW, don't believe I'll be taking you up on that offer. Something fishy about a guy trying to set up his X with you. Got a friend at work who's paying $1200/mo alimony to his X who offered to buy me a brand new Harley of my choice if I'd get his X to marry me and stay married for one year. I passed. Over the past 10 years he's told me horror stories about why she's his X. :hmm:

And now, back to your regularly scheduled program..

Greg,

I haven't forgotten about you, but gee I'm having too much fun trying to pawn off my ex....

Now back to more serious matters... We WILL get your steering gear fixed!!

Sorry, Larry. Just can't help ya man. Besides, I don't think my wife would like to be traded in on a, slightly, newer model. She's 52 but her all original DDs in great shape, and I don't mean "daily driver". Maintenance costs are a bit high but she's getting good mileage. Ahem, now about that steering gear.......

...8:30 PM Friday night, just finished replacing the glow plugs in my ex's '99 F350 7.3 PSD... at least she Thanked Me!!

OK Greg, now on to your leaking steering gear.

I've done some research and have found two different seal kits. First part # is C6TZ.3E500.A which is a Ford pt # and contains all the seals necessary, or you can get two semi complete kits, one for the sector shaft or one for the input shaft. I'd recommend the complete kit as you just never know.

Now the other part # is from Dennis Carpenter and it varies slightly from Ford's part #, dummy that I am, I didn't write the number down. Oh well, I'll get the correct part # ASAP. But that may not matter as...

Monday or Tuesday, I'm calling my buddy over at Hemborg Ford in Norco SoCal, where I used to work, and see if the Ford seal kit is still available, my suspicions are that it is, but I'll verify, get the cost (employee discount) and let you know.

Looks like it's relatively easy to disassemble, clean, replace the seals and reassemble... now my price is really going up!! Yeah, Right!

UPDATE!

In my research for your steering gear issues, I came across this...

http://www.wcb4x4.com/tech/rcshopman1.pdf Pretty good information here... NOW GET READING GREG!!

In my further research, I found this forum...

http://wwwfordtruckfanatics.com/forum/a ... -5501.html AGAIN GREG GET TO READING!!! You'll notice in the various posts at this site that Ford has changed the seal kit part numbers, but it appears that the steering gear hasn't changed much from 1969 through 1979 as these are "rear steer" chassis as opposed to "front steer" chassis starting in 1980 F series.

...Damn I'm a nag and just wait until you get my invoice for all this work I've done...you're gonna have to give me your Bump and that's only a partial payment...AT BEST! PITA aren't I?
