brakes questions

Post by tmcalavy »

I need to put a new master cylinder in my 69 F250 2WD with power drums brakes all four wheels. I did this 30+ years ago when I was a kid on another 69 without power brakes and it was easy-peasy. Any tips/tricks/advice on this for power brakes? Is it a simple bolt up, bleed brakes and go?

Not much difference between swaping out the master cylinder on a power brake system vs a non power brake system. I believe that most people who do this bench bleed the new master cylinder before installation. Other than that, it's bolt on, hook up the lines, bleed the lines and good to go.

Thanks for the tips/advice/encouragement. With the help of my teenager, I got the swap done today and my "sometimes" brake pedal/brakes are now as firm as new.
