New Member from binghamton ny
Hey guys im stoked that I found this site.. Been reading it for hours. All night yesterday and probably all day at work today haha......Im a Ford junkie up in NY where all the guys have their heads so far up chevy's a%$ that I never run out of guys to pick on....
Anyway I have several projects a 1946 pickup, 1951 pickup and my favorite truck of all time the 1968 f100 ranger which I picked up from SC last year. I'm starting to collect my pieces for a complete restore on the truck and have found that it might be put together with parts from a bunch of other 67-72 trucks.
Let me know what you think....
1. The grille is a 1969 I believe but has no ranger emblem in it. It looks different than a 1968 ranger grille.
2. There is a side reflector on the hood but no side reflector in the rear.
3. The tailights have two screws with no trim around them. There is also no rear reflectors like the 1968.
4. The fuel tank has a 3 bolt top flange like the 67-69
5. There is no FORD letters on the hood but a (Ford) emblem
6. 1968 heater assembley and door panels with arm rests
All in all The Vin Number that it is registered as is for a 1968 f100 6cyl. (F1ACE98792) but the vin number on the door and the vin number on the frame is (F10YCD07056) im assuming he lost the paperwork for the origional truck and got a new vin number from a different one. I know it is a 1968 f100 ranger but what I dont understand is why things are all different.
I am also torn on what to do with the front suspension. I have a built 460 (.060 over) with a C6 auto to put into the beast . I also thought about leaving it with manual brakes and steering with the 460 but I have bought a 2005 Ford Crown Vic IFS with disc brakes, power steering and have a power brake setup. What do you guys think is the best way to improve the suspension? How would you start this restore.. Many thanks
BRET

You know I’m chilling on the back roads,
Laid back rollin to some George Jones,
Smoke rollin out the window,
An ice cold beer sittin in the console
Memory lane up in the headlights
It’s got me reminiscing on the good times
sittin turning off the real life, driving that truck
hittin easy street in mud tires
That's me
