Body Swap on to Super Duty chassis

Post by ak-1970-360 »

Hey guys just wanted to run this idea by you and get your imput. I am currently not impressed with any new trucks mostly due to imissions and having to add urea in the new diesels. As a huge fan of diesel performance this is an issue lol. I am thinking for prolly less money than a new pickup I can build my dream truck. I want to put a 67-72 (any year I dont care) crew cab short bed body on a 99-04 super duty frame. For drivetrain I will go with a P pumped 24 valve 5.9 cummins-NV4500 combo and use the rest of the super duty drivetrain. I would love to hear all your imput about this project so I can get a better idea of what im up against.
Thank you
Josh A.

If your going to go with a cummins powerplant then it would be tons easier to use a newer dodge frame. That way your not trying to fit a different motor to a different frame and a different frame to a different body and a different body to a different motor. By going with three different sources to build the truck your asking for three times the misery in getting everthing to work. I also know that you can put a classic Ford truck body on a late model dodge because Trucks did it on TV not to long ago with a dent side. It's called Project Super Dually they started it back in 2009. Here's a link to one of the episodes they worked on the truck.

I think the cummins swap part will be fairly simple because you can order motor mounts, tranny adapters, complete wiring harnesses and all the other nececites from destroked.com. I am not a fan of dodge front ends so I would prefer to use the super duty, plus I want to keep is as much Ford as possiable.
