holding leafs springs from sliding outward
hwo important is it to have those braces on the leaf springs so the leafs dont slide every which way? i replaced two leaf in a pack that had two bad leafs in it. and the brackets were riveted to the leaf that broke. so now i have none on it. they are 14.99 for one pair of them.

Opinion here... as long as you keep your eye on the spring pack after instillation, I would think you'll be OK. As long as you torque the axle housing U bolts to the proper specification and the spring pin is in good shape, again, I'd think you'll be good to go.

Re: holding leafs springs from sliding outward
i impacted the nuts pretty good. about back to where they were to begin with. i then took a hammer and was able to tap a couple of them back into place. i think i am going to go ahead and put them on it. since it is only a trailer. i am going to just use muffler clamps. heat them and bend them square and then bolt them on. i'm pretty sure it should work. i'll take a picture for the fun of it.
