Dentside front brake questions

Post by Joshpow »

Hey guys. I got a line blown out on the front brakes on ol RustBucket. I am about set on the Dentside disc conversion. I know I need the beams, springs, lines, prop valve, booster mcyl combo, line brackets, and hardware. Any other goodies? Also, are the track width the same from a 72 to a 73-79? Thanks guys. Know all this is old news but need to freshen my knowledge.

depending on what year your truck and the donor truck is you may need fewer parts than what you think. some of the kinpins are the same size on some trucks and years. and for the springs you can use either trucks springs. you just have to use the spring cups that match or came with the springs you are going to use. the track width is the same as ours. the booster also doesnt matter. its only the mnaster that matters. and you can use your old master if you remove the residual valve from the master. where the line hooks to the master. just use a pick and pull it out i think. mayeb its screwed in. i don't know. you just have to remove the valve from the rear line place.

It was really helpful to me to have the lines leading from the maser to the proportioning valve intact and not cut off. The P-valve also had the bracket on it which made it even more helpful to mount it. If your doing the removal yourself try not cutting anything, only as a last resort.
