Can you convert a 3speed column shift manual steering to automatic manual steering?

I bet its easier than going through the hassel of finding a automatic manual steering column itself.

Not really. I'd bet you could find one pretty easy. My truck had one in it.

the outer housing is the same pretty much. its the shift tube and collar that are different. although with enough welding it mihgt be able to be done. o rmayeb no weldign at all. if yo uwere to use the smaller shift arm to hook the shift linkage to. and then use it to shift with. no pulling in or push down on the shifter. that would give you your selection. the only thing you would not have is a gear selector stop or detent fo reach gear postion.

When I changed from C6 to T19, I needed a bellhousing.

I found one on CL, including flywheel, bellhousing, clutch, and 3-speed tranny.

When I went to pick it up, I talked to the young man I bought it from, and found out he had changed to a C6.

All he did was to hook up one of the 3-speed linkages to the C6 lever, and was driving it that way with no problem.

Like fordman said, you just won't have the detents, and by the way, remember that the Ford auto trannys of this era had an issue with jumping out of park. The problem was in the shift mechanism in the column...

Do they make a kit to fix that problem on jumping out park? I used to have a c6 in a 72 and never had it jump out of park.

LOL!!!

The recall by Ford was to add a decal that told you to make sure you had it fully in Park and to set the parking brake!!

Edit: Here's a link to the recall info: http://www.fordification.com/recalls/81V008000.htm
