brake lite on dash
I can't get the lite on the dash to come on,Its suppose to come on when you turn the key to acc/or crank up the eng.I have ck.the bulb and its ok,The only way I can get it to come on is to ground the wire going to the lite.I have juice going to it with the key switch should I not have juice going down to the switch on the differential valve(Which I don't) and when the differential switch is in the right place the lite should go off.But I can't get it to come on to make sure it is in the right place. (Hope this make sense to some one) I did a complete brake job front and rear with drums and the whole 9 yards and now the trucks pulls bad one way and then the next time it pulls the other way lite will not come on unless I make it by grounding it no juice down to the switch but have juice at the lite.... HELP

Re: brake lite on dash
here are the 68-72 wiring for it. it has a positive and a ground. they cycle through the ignition switch plug. just sounds like a bad ground. is that plug i sent you contacting properly to the switch? or maybe the terminal inside of the ignition switch is loose. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... glight.jpg

Re: brake lite on dash
The plug you sent had a broken plug contact like the one that was on it I redid both of them and used a red butt connector in the plug that goes on the switch they seam to be making a good contact but should you not be able to push the prong on the switch and make the lite come on and off with it out the of the valve.

i would think so. i didnt know the contact was broken in it. stupid me didnt even look at it. let me know if i need to fix that. if your able to ground wire 977 and the light works then it has to do with wire 977 some where. maybe the wire on the socket is loose or dirty maybe.

Re: brake lite on dash
I'm not worry about the plug,I just want to get the brakes straighten out.It get scary out there when you put on the brakes and don't know what way its going to pull and sure hope I don't have to panic stop any time soon

Re: brake lite on dash
Just pushing the prong on the switch will not make the light come on but if you hold the prong to a good ground source and push it in than the light should come on if all the wires are correct. Also if the wires are not plugged in at the distribution block switch the light will not come on when starting the truck. Hope this helps.

yes it comes on until the engine is cranked. then it goes off when the truck starts and the key is let off.

The light should be on only when the ignition key is in the 'start' position.

Re: brake lite on dash
i forgot to ad that if the light stays on after the truck starts then there is a imbalance in the brake valve. and there may have been a problem with the brakes at one time.

Re: brake lite on dash
great dont you just love those valves. you will just have to keep bleeding the brakes until it goes off. i am not sure to tell which side of the brakes front or back the valve slid to. but while bleeding the brakes it could slide to either side i guess. it just has to be bled slowly until the light goes off as long as all the air is out of the system.
