front coil springs

Post by hot_roder09 »

are the coil springs in a f100 with a 390 the same as the coil springs in a f100 with a 302 0r inline 6, was wanting to know if i use a set of springs from a small block or six cylinder f100 in my big block f100 if the front of my truk will ride lower in the front and vise versa :? :hmm:

They are different. Dont know if they would drive good if you put sb springs under bb. Not saying it wont drive right. Just saying it might make it wander on road or something.

i do think there may be a difference in 6 cyl vs 390 springs. i do not know if there are any difference length wise in the 390 vs 302 springs. i think i may have read on this site that the v8 springs were the same as 6 cyl springs were different lengths. oh interchange on the springs are more for gvw of a truck than anything. robroy had trouble getting his new springs right when he upgraded his spring cups. but basically 67-72 springs all use the same spring cup i think.

Only difference in actually fitting up I have run on is different era trucks. Like fordman said, gvw makes differences but if you get a matching set they should bolt in out of any 67-72 f100. Fordman may be right on the all v8 springs are the same. Dont take me 100% sure on that. I believe there are differences in them in dentside era trucks for sure. Not sure on ours. Thought there was different ones for sb vs bb but I wont argue the fact cause I aint sure.

The springs are different from 302 to 390. It will effect the camber on front end alignment.

I would think if you have a 302 in it now, you would be fine with small block springs.
