F100 Lowering Suspension Help!!

Post by cheek »

G'day guys,
I know there's alot of thread about the dreambeams etc. so please excuse me for making another one :)

The time has (finally) come that I can start working on my bump properly(So this is the start of my endless HELP threads :P), first things first the chassis has to be done!
The plan is to get a set of DJM Dreambeams and do a flip kit and/or relocate the hangers.
I want my truck to be as low as possible without sacrificing driveability with negative camber etc. I'm hoping around a 4" front drop and 5" rear if possible.

So I was wondering, 1- With the dreambeams is it best to use a set of original style new springs or to cut a coil or two off of my old ones? Like I said I want it to be low as possible without creating bad camber. Or can I purchase some lowering springs? If so is there any point?

2- What is the go with shockers? Should I purchase a set of the DJM supplied ones?

3- What is the best possible way to lower the rear without doing a C-notch and having enough distance between diff and frame..
The reason I can't do a C-notch is in Aus you needa go through hell and back to get it all engineered in order to register it.
Oh yeah and I have flexo-matic springs..

The truck won't be carrying and loads, occasionaly maybe a 200kg motorbike but that's about it.

Thanks heaps for any and all help! :)

On the rear of my truck the PO had done an axle over spring swap, that gives good 4-5" drop in the rear...that's too much and only leaves me about 1.5-2" of travel for the rear b4 bottoming out. I'm not sure if the hanger flip will give the same drop numbers. My front is the original springs with drop beams.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with more help. There's a c-notch in my future, just waiting on the :2cents: to do it!

My truck is axle flipped, and I bottomed out all the time. Mine had to be notched.

My truck had 2 coils cut out of the front with no drop beams. the beams pretty much sat on the bumpstops. the rear had an axle flip. it was about 2'' from bottoming out.

Seems to do fine when not loaded. If I have more than about 200lbs back there it'll bottom.

BobbyFord did a great thread on some home made notches and a store bought flip kit. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =5&t=56337

Mine's really cobbled together.
