Dream Beam owners

Post by Calvin Gunter »

Just a heads up for those of you who have Dream Beams, be sure to go back and check the tie rod relocator nuts.
Mine have been on for about two years and recently found the bottom nut was pretty loose.
I feel like I had them tight when I installed them but I recently was able to tighten them a good bit more.

Try some blue Loctite to keep them snug.

I had used blue Loctite the first time.
I think the problem was I either didn't get the tie rod end taper in the relocator enough or there was too much powder coating in the relocator not allowing me to seat the taper.
I know for a fact that I did get both studs as tight as possible the first time.
This time I was able to tighten the lower nut probably another four slots on the lower nut.
Not a great design on the locator because you can't get the wrench inside to tighten it.
Last night I wrenched it as well as I could then used a hammer and a punch to finish tightening it.
Thank goodness for the cotter pin.

:hmm: maybe it was the powdercoat. Thanks for sharing, I'll dig out the powdercoat when I do my beam swap.
