Which pulleys for P/S setup?
1971 F100 Custom 2wd 360FE
I added the Saginaw box, and Power steering pump & bracket using the helpful guide. I guess when I scavenged the parts from the bone-yard I didn't notice that the pulleys were different also.
When I eyeball the pump pulley with the fan - it looks as though I'll need a three groove pulley to match it. Is that right? I don't have A/C. Does the belt run from the harmonic balancer up to the pump? Or does it also run through the fan pulley?

I did the "if it lines up use it" thing. I have the three pulley also. My belt went around it and the pump. You can't see the pump in this pic, but you can see the other pulleys.

re: Which pulleys for P/S setup?
Thanks.
I'll head back out to the bone-yard for the 3-groove pulley. BTW do you happen to know the belt number/size?

I will check in the morning (Wednesday). I am guessing it would be the same as yours. Good place to start anyway.
fordman, get yours also.
I think some pulleys are different diameter.

i went out to get the numbers but there was too much in the cab. but i looked under my hood the alt goes there to crank and pump pulley the power steering goes from the crank to pump to ps. the ac is on the outside pulley and catches the crank the idler and the a/c. so you would /should only need a two groove for the bottom pulley and two groove for the pump pulley. since you don't have a/c

fordman, which pulley grove is the AC in?
My P.S. uses the outside pulley grove on the crank pulley.

HHHHmmmm. ajsmolik should follow your setup vs mine. I have a 460 using the L&L P/S bracket which probably offsets the belt to the outside crank pulley grove.
On the two pulley are your crank pulley goves the same in diameter? My two front ones are the same, but the back is larger.

Belt ID:
17415 MatchMaker 13AV1055
2807 30
I don't have any which numbers stand for what. My neighbor got this for me from were he used to work. He is a heavy machinery Mechanic. The belt is taller then most belts allowing for more surface area to touch the pulley.

ok my crank pulley has the large gear torward the rad. i have the pump pulley from a car which is smaller than the one that came on the truck engine. my belts are all gates they are 7410 7525 and 9600. the old belts wer e smaller because of the larger pump pulley. my engine is a 390. with ps and air. if that doesnt help then maybe go to the parts store and see if you can get a stock belt and try it for fit if it doesnt work then a person could trade it back in for a new size.
