Rust holes are dangerous!
Okay so, I'm almost embarassed to admit that this actually happened to me. But I think yall deserve a laugh, so here it goes.... It was the first day I worked on the 72 and all we did that day was take the hood off and everything out but the block out of the truck. Well when I took the battery case out I sadly realized there was a battery sized rust hole in my truck. Later that night Aaron couldn't quite get a bolt out, so I crawled in the truck and I actually got the bolt out all by myself. So I felt pretty darn good to say the least, but all that was ruined when i got out. I was standing in the hood of the truck right where the cooling fan and belts usually are well, without looking I put my hand on the truck to get out without looking. And I ended up aiming right where the rust hole was, so my hand went through the rust hole and I completely lost my balance and about hit my head on the side of my truck trying to get out! If only I could've seen the look on my face....

Re: Rust holes are dangerous!
put a 1x8 over the rust hole for now. i usually reach behind me and grab the core support. this falling down and getting hurt is not funny for me anymore. i get really mad. i have had lots of balance and body control problems latley. not really anything noticable to anyone else. but to me when i drop a glass that i am holding that is wrong or i trip over nothing that is there more than usual that is wrong its the little things that happen to me. and no one else notices it. just me. i have more trouble now at getting cords and air hoses grabbing my feet than any other time in my life. why now all of the sudden? i dont know. it has never happened to me before. please be careful and watch out. someone could be out there to get you. a ghost maybe?

Yeah at the shop I've been working on my 302 and my boyfriends International Scout II at I'm CONSTANTLY tripping over the extention cords he's got out. And the other night a freakin rat ran by the shop door and I almost killed myself to get away! And to top it all off theres fluids on the floor from taking the motor out and I've slipped about 4 times on all of that! I try to be careful because I definately don't want a trip to the ER that would slow progress on my truck I'm just gonna sandblast where my rust hole is and weld a patch panel onto it and when I make my battery tray I'm gonna have to make a big one anyways cause I want an Optima battery, so hopefully my battery tray will cover my patch job.fordman wrote:put a 1x8 over the rust hole for now. i usually reach behind me and grab the core support. this falling down and getting hurt is not funny for me anymore. i get really mad. i have had lots of balance and body control problems latley. not really anything noticable to anyone else. but to me when i drop a glass that i am holding that is wrong or i trip over nothing that is there more than usual that is wrong its the little things that happen to me. and no one else notices it. just me. i have more trouble now at getting cords and air hoses grabbing my feet than any other time in my life. why now all of the sudden? i dont know. it has never happened to me before. please be careful and watch out. someone could be out there to get you. a ghost maybe?

Yeah, I notice similar things about myself lately. Not consistent, but enough to catch my attention. I figure it's an age thing. I turned 53 last month.fordman wrote:put a 1x8 over the rust hole for now. i usually reach behind me and grab the core support. this falling down and getting hurt is not funny for me anymore. i get really mad. i have had lots of balance and body control problems latley. not really anything noticable to anyone else. but to me when i drop a glass that i am holding that is wrong or i trip over nothing that is there more than usual that is wrong its the little things that happen to me. and no one else notices it. just me. i have more trouble now at getting cords and air hoses grabbing my feet than any other time in my life. why now all of the sudden? i dont know. it has never happened to me before. please be careful and watch out. someone could be out there to get you. a ghost maybe?

Racer and Fordman, I would recommend you go see doctor. Loss of balance and equilibrium is not necessarily an 'age' thing. You should probably have this checked out.
