Lowering coil springs

Post by texrodder »

Has anyone tried these 2" lowering springs from Blue Oval truck parts, if so are they worth the price?

i think i would cut my original springs first before paying that much for new springs. because new springs are going to be stiffer and 2 inches lower than original stock. the used orignal springs on your truck will already be worn and less stiff. so you will get 2 inches lower than yo uare now. and the new sprign will actually probably lift yo uup some even with the 2 inch drop they advertize.

Probably will cut mine, just wanting to see if having variable rate springs were worth the cost, had some on one of my lowered broncos a few years back and they performed way better than stock single rate springs, but these are over twice as much as later model F-series lowering springs.

As you probably already know, lowering by cutting the springs will result in negative camber and premature tire wear.
I have Moog variable rate springs in my truck and I like them (about $90).

Yep I know, been around building trucks since the early 80's thats why I was asking if anyone had used these variable rate lowering springs, seems they are impossible to find now for our trucks, what is part # on yours and were they stock height?

Yes Sir, they are stock height. The top is the most wide spaced part of the spring and the area to cut them. It doesn't take much of a cut to get the desired results. Draw a line and measure the outside edge of the spring to make sure both are cut the same.
Summit part #MOG-CC808, $87.90 delivered to my door.
