68 F100 with power assist.
I have the above F100 4x4 with the power assist option that seems to leak a quart of fluid a day. I can find the lines for replacement but haven't been able to locate a rebuild/new part for the ram on the drag link. Has anyone else just kept the power assist because all I've seen is swaps to the mid to late 70's set ups.

if you can't find anything you may be able to go to a shop that rebuilds hydraulic cylinders and have them rebuild it. all you would probably need would be the correct size orings and cups for it. they should be able to find something to make it work.

Would upgrading to the newer box give me a better turning radius? My 68 is a short box and can't make the swing into the driveway without stopping and backing up a bit.

if the 100's ram assist is the same as the 250's you can buy Rebuilt units from Jeffs bronco graveyard for 300 bucks a pop. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/c-236

Just out of curiosity What is the difference between power steering and power assist?
I've always been crazy but it keeps me from going insane.

I converted mine to power steering for $254.34 I didn't really want to at the time but the previous owner had the rag joint welded up solid shortly before selling me the truck a year ago. Needless to say it stripped all the splines off the box and steering column. so it wasn't a choice.

You got room for my truck I don't mind you spending thousands on ithutch1973 wrote:The money part doesn't bother me, I'm going to put thousands into the thing restoring into what I want, I just want something that's going to work good. Power assist has limitations and way to many fittings to spring leaks.

...I have a hard enough time selling the old lady on putting the cash into mine, let alone someone else's.

I figure if I spread the cost out over several years my wife won't get suspicious.
So far, so good!

That's the plan. Figure 2k a year over a few years and she won't know what hit her. As long as we don't start breeding I'll have the extra money.
