Exploded view diagrams

Post by 19FORD67 »

are the numbers on the exploded diagrams actual part numbers or reference numbers? I'm specifically referring to the steering column diagrams.

Those are Ford's Basic Part Numbers, which are the same for all Ford products. (That is, for example, the basic parts number for valve cover is the same for a Pinto as it is for a Boss 429.) It's the prefix and suffix to the Basic Part Number that designates it's revision and application.

Thanks for your reply Keith, I was hoping that those numbers might be a reference to a "parts name" legend. I work nights now and I noticed that since I started nights I ask quite a bit more dumb questions. How's the '67 coming along? I have my steering linkage, drums, steering gear, m/c, and column removed on my '67. I'm about ready to start gathering the things I need for re-assembly. Look for more dumb questions in the near future!
