Should I change the races too?
Do you guys usually use the bearing races that come installed on a new rotor, or the races that come with the new bearings?

I prefer to install new races whenever I change a bearing. It's possible that you may not get a perfect fit with a new bearing onto an old race. It's possible that the manufacturing tollerances between bearing manufacturer or even the same manufacturer between runs has changed and the fit may not be as good as it should be. If you've already got the race, it doesn't cost anything but a little time to change it out.

back when these trucks were newer. in the 80's i would say. they sold the bearings seperatly from the races. so no i never changed the race unless it was needed.

Both sets of races are new. The races that come with the new rotor and the races that come with new bearings.mlheppl wrote:I prefer to install new races whenever I change a bearing. I would use the races that came with the bearings. That way you would know the tolerances match.

I used the races that came with the bearings, 'Made in Mexico'. The ones that came with the rotors were made in China.
