column question

Post by White Lightning »

1971 F100 4wd 360 w/4speed. On the column, where the shaft goes through the firewall...is there supposed to be a lower bearing in there? The only thing I pulled off when I took it apart is the collar that tightens down on the shaft to prevent it from coming back up in the cab. How else would the shaft stay in the center of the hole? :hmm:

either the bearing and race have been ate away or the are still in the housing or on the shaft.

well their not on the shaft because i pulled it out. It was getting dark on me last night but I can't imagine there not being a bearing down there.
