Today's youth

Post by sargentrs »

Want a good laugh? Take your truck, with 3 on the tree, to an oil change place and sit back and watch 'em try to pull it into the bay. Hilarious! Took mine to Walmart a few years ago. Stood back and watched the kid sit there with a confused look on his face for a couple of minutes before I let him off the hook and pulled it in for him.

Got a guy where I work at, about 30 years old. Saw me pull in the parking lot in the ol' girl. I popped off at him and he said he was going to steal my truck. I held the keys up for him and told him if he could pull it out of the parking lot, he could have it! He said "All right". Then I said.......3 on the tree, no power steering, no power brakes. He backed down real quick!

Anybody else got any stories like that?

What is so hard to understand about the 3 tree setup? People don't understand it because they're so used to the floor shifter.

I understood it right away, lol

first one i ever drove was on a Galaxie, took me about 30 seconds to realize were the gears were. It basically mimics a floor shift.

though anymore a 3 on the tree is like a anti theft device. that and were i us to park my truck if someone tried to hot wire it with out checking if it was in gear before starting it, it would fly through my neighbors fence.
Ask me how i know that   Least when i did it he was looking for a good excuse to tell his wife why the fence needed replaced. LOL

Now the real fun is when the rod that moves the clutch fork breaks and you have to shift with out using a clutch.

Watching a kid(like i can speak im only 26) try to start the truck with a manual choke, or the fact that my truck doesn't have a neutral safety switch.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

I had a good laugh years ago when the guy took my oil breather off. He didn't know what was going on.

I used to work at a vehicle emissions testing station through college so I drove A LOT of stuff. The best was a pick-up that was originally a 3 on the tree but was converted to a floor **** 3 speed. The guys brother did the conversion, welded everything together (not sure why) and put it together backwards! Becasue it was welded they were not able to fix it easily and left it as is. 1st was right and down, reverse was right and up, 2nd was left and down and 3rd was left and up. Now that was a trip to drive

I´m 18 and my ´71 has a three on the tree. Understood it after one minute. It´s the same as a floor shifter only sideways. When I brought mine to the technical inspection I had to put it in first gear for the tech guy to drive it in the shop

I actually reversed mine for a while so when my GRANDdaughter rode with us, the shifter wasn't in the way of whoever sat in the middle. After putting a new shifter in, I hooked them back correctly.

I love it when people ask how you can back up while the shifter is in park.

Mine's a '67 F-250, no power steering, no power brakes, 4x4, 34" tires, manual choke. My wife gets pissed when I want to take the truck to places that have valet parking. The only thing funnier than watching them try to park it is listening to them try to start it after it's cooled off. :D

Column shifting with a clutch would throw me off for a bit. I'm still not good with a manual anyway.

My mom is afraid to drive my truck because of the carburetor. The idle and choke aren't quite right...

AIKO73, I HOPE THIS WILL BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY.  :yt:

THREE LITTLE BOYS were concerned because they couldn't get anyone to play with them

They decided it was because they had not been baptized and didn't go to Sunday school

So they went to the nearest church. But, only the janitor was there.

One little boy said, "We need to be baptized because no one will come out and play with us.

Will you baptize us?"

Sure," said the janitor.

He took them into the bathroom and dunked their little heads in the toilet bowl, one at a time.

Then he said, "You are now baptized!"

When they got outside, one of them asked, "'What denomination do you think we are?"

The oldest one said, "We're not Kathlick, because they pour the water on you."

"We're not Babtis, because they dunk all of you in the water."
"We're not Methdiss, because they just sprinkle water on you."
The youngest one said, "Didn't you smell that water?"

They all joined in asking, 'Yeah! What do you think that means?'

"I think it means we're Pisskopailians!"

i like watching valets try to put my truck in first gear and not realizing its a granny gear, they start to lurch all over the place...then when i feel that my clutch has had enough...i take over and say to them "You're a proffesional car parker"?

the manual steering and manual brakes help make this funny too..for me

Maybe it's just me but I can't find out what's more amusing, someone not being able to drive your 3-tree or you taking your truck to walmart for an oil change
