Frontend rattles

Post by Orange Beezy »

I switched out the front drum brakes on my 68 F250 with a disc brakes and I beams out of a 1972 F250.I replaced the pads and hardware had the rotors turned and everything else that needed to be replaced was replaced. When I am driving or coming to a stop I have a rattle thats driving me crazy. It sounds like its on the right front side.I have checked the wheel bearings repacked them, but the noise is still there.I have used diskbrake stop squeek on the pads as well.Any suggestions of what else it may be? Or could it be somthing else? :dk:

if it is the pads rattling. silicone around where the cups meet the pads is one way to stop that rattle.

Caliper Isolators. I had a similar issue to yours and after a search here I found the answer. The cheep isolators that came with my new (Rebuilt) calipers were smaller and sucked. Used kit from LMC, part #45-3043 for my 1971. 1972 takes different kit so make sure you get the right one. Best 23.00 I had ever spent.

Well I replaced inner and outter bearings w/races still had rattles, balanced the front tires, still rattled. Then I went and bought some shocks for the Beezy. Upon taking off the lower shock bolt, low and behold there was my rattle. One of the shock mount rivets was broken and the other was loose. Took out the rivets and bolted the shcok mount back on.Rattle free now. :drive:
