Guess what? It looks like more of a pickup now. Got the bed back home and set it on the frame, not bolted down yet. This weekend I finished painting the bottom, I put roll on bed liner inside the wheel wells and on the bed bottom for extra rust protection. I guess I am paranoid about rust. Anyways, before my friends and I muscled the bed on the frame I wanted to put some kind of rubber between the bed and frame. I got some old cut up large diameter fire hose, which is rubber with synthetic fabric weave for strength. I cut six small pieces and put them where the bolt holes are for now. As it sits the body lines look really good, I am very happy so far. Still got a lot more work to do though. Bill

Its not damaged at all, but it does bend inward without the support of the toolbox. I forgot to mention I painted the toolbox today, it looks good black.

Yeah it didn't look like it was creased so I was hoping that was the case. I assumed the box would keep things in line when bolted back up. Whats left to do on the front end?

Finish running the brake lines, though I need to do that in the rear also. Re-attach the steering and then assembly. But I am probably going to wait on assembling the front end assembly until after I have dropped in a motor and trans. Not totally sure though becasue I need to hand this thing over to a body shop to do some body work that I can, like the dents on the roof and the right front fender. I am going to talk with a shop soon to see if they would prefer with or without the motor.

Hey Bill I didn't see your latest photo update until now. *WOW*. That is looking truly fantastic. That makes me want to run out in the garage and pull the body completely off of #50 and go that route as well! If only it were that easy!

It was great to meet you as well, I had a good time chatting and cant wait to get some of my new parts on the old truck. The bed has changed hands a few times but it will stay with me now and I am sure you all will see it again some time, hopefully in a more finished condition.

Ya, some what anyways. Right now I have pretty much all of the body work done that I can do. I still need to finish stripping and primering the tailgate and hood. I went and talk to a body shop the other day to see about how much it would be to get out all the dents and such that I couldn't. They would not tell me anything without seeing it in person. So with that I am stuck with deciding on getting a motor, or trying to assemble and haul this thing to the body shop just to get a quote. Either way I am looking at some big expenses coming up, lets just pray for a good tax return.

Thanks for checkin in on me. I have been super busy with school and work the last couple of months. I am currently working on my last term paper (30 pages ) which I need to have done tomorrow. Starting Friday, I will have almost 2 months to start working on the ol' girl again. I hope to have a lot more done in those couple of months provided I can bear the Texas heat.

Before this summer semester started, i did get the tailgate and hood sand plasted and they are waiting for a little bit of body work and primer. I hope to get started on those next week.

Okay, this update is a little late but I recently bought a 460 engine that is incomplete but al rebuilt, basically short block with heads. My goal is to get it all up and running for the truck while the truck itself is sent off to a body shop having the finishing work done that I cannot do.

What I know about it is that its an early 70s Lincon engine that was rebuilt a few years ago and never used. It has mostly stock hardware with .03 over pistons, higher performance comp cam, and gear drive timing set instead of chain driven. It also has a high pressure oil pump and 8 quart rear sump moroso oil pan that I don't think is going to work in my truck. The heads are completely rebuilt DOVE-C with SCJ sized valves with 2.25 intake and 1.75 exhaust. The heads do need to be ported so I need to figure out if I can do it myself or have to pay someone to do it. I also got MSD ignition and coil and all new moroso gasket kit.

Just popped in and looked at the last page. Motor looks good, should be a beast. I dont know how much you know about gear drives but those gear drive timing sets are very loud and would hear you coming from a mile away with it. Ive got some friends that have them in there street cars and wish they had put a chain in because of the noise. You really dont hear them much in a race car because of open headers, but running pipes its about all youll hear.
