steering column size

Post by cwii »

Howdy, I have a 71F250 PS column shift with C6 2WD. I want to replace my existing power steering column with a tilt model. I am now full grown and would rather tinker than loose weight. Are the F100 and F250 columns the same? for the same options? Idit carries one for the F100 and they are not sure if it will fit the F250.
Thanks for all the info its a great site!

F100 F250 and F350 2wd saginaw power steering are all the same length. bendix power steeirn is longer than the saginaw power steering. the muanal column is about 3/4 different than the bendix power steerign column shaft. since you have a 71 you need the saginaw power steerign columns. they can be found from 1969-1977 with slight differences in them. the ideal column to find is the 71/72 columns. and mayeb a 70. i cant remember when the plug change was on the tss.

Thanks Fordman, thats the way I understood the tech article on this board. I do have the Saginaw setup now. Ive been saving my change for along time to help out my old truck. It seems as if it will bolt right in with a new rag joint. It might need a little electrical mods but I can handle that part, its that metal fabrication I have problems with.

you can also have youe old column shaft cut down and resplined. this procedure is to remove the butterfly on the bottom of the steerign shaft. and save it so it can be put back on the shaft after it is cut to the proper length and resplined.
