I-BEAM year

Post by michael69 »

Can someone tell me what year this I-beam is from? The casting # is C7TA-8B 78A I looked on the disk conversion page and it didn't have this number. The reason I am asking is the parts truck has disk swap on it and want to put them on my 69 f100 and was told this right side beam was bent and need to find a matching beam or will the 69 beam work. 69 beam # is C7TA-8A 35D THANKS

The one from the '69 F100 should work just fine....it's the same piece. It'll have the same kingpin diameter.

Thats the page I looked at but didn't know if the whole number had to match or what. So is the C7TA the only part of the numbers that has to match. I have no idea what year the disk brake front end came out of I will try and get #s from spindals tomorrow and see if I can find what year they are so if I need more parts in future. THANKS KEITH

Yea, I had known that. Thats why I was tring to find out the year the front end came out of. 73-74 SPINDLES will fit the 69 beams, right? and 75 up has to have 75-79 beams, right? I think I have it figured out,but what I can't under stand is the DJM drop beams they sell them now for 65-79 and say they will fit all years. They use to be sold 65-74 and said it had to be 73-74 spindles to work now they say all years interchange whats up with that? :?

maybe djm has changed it so that you use their spindles or something like that. maybe they are just lieing to sell parts. i don't know i would ask them directly what king pin diameter their beams used. or maybe they are only making one size for the 3000 pound front axle but not the other heavier weight rated axles.

...or maybe they just sell the beams with the slightly-smaller kingpin diameter and require you to ream the beam to use the larger size kingpin? It's definitely worth asking them.
